THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021 is an international collaboration between MMTF Consultant and Race Base Asia. The physical race is due to take place between 29 – 31 October 2021 in Resort World Langkawi.

THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021 is a certified point race by International Trail Running Association (ITRA) and has been included as one of the qualifying races for Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB) besides being an Asia Trail Master candidate race for 2022.

The race covers 5 challenges namely 50/50, 50 Miles, 50KM, 25KM and 10KM which will take runners through the trails surrounding Langkawi and island on the north west of Peninsular Malaysia.

THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA VR TRIAL RUN @ Dragon Slayers Reinitialized is created to help every runner to reset and most importantly to help us gauge how our “dragon slayers” are doing during the uncertain times created by the pandemic. It also allows everyone out there to see how they match up against our “dragon slayers” and the “dragon” virtually.

THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA VR TRIAL RUN @ Dragon Slayers Reinitialized has 3 challenges for runners to choose from namely 25KM, 50KM or 25KM + 50KM. You would have up to 1 week to complete the challenge. We will take into account the “kilometer effort” for those of you who cannot integrate elevation gain in your run. Hence for any gain of 100m in elevation, we add 1KM to the distance of the route you cover.

THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA VR TRIAL RUN @ Dragon Slayers Reinitialized is Free of Charge (FOC) for all confirmed registrants of THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021. If you are confirmed registrant for THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021, your name and data will be uploaded automatically on to the system we have created for the THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA VR TRIAL RUN @ Dragon Slayers Reinitialized.

If you are not a confirmed registrant for THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021, you will be charged RM10 for 25KM, RM15 for 50KM, or RM25 for the 25KM + 50KM challenge which acts as administration fees.

Registration for the THE 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA VIRTUAL TRIAL RUN will start from 2 April 2021 – 23 May 2021.

*Note:

(a) All existing 10KM and 25KM 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021 registrants are auto-registered under 25KM VR.

(b) All existing 50KM 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021 registrants are auto-registered under 50KM VR.

(c) All existing 50/50 9 DRAGONS MALAYSIA 2021 registrants are auto-registered under 25KM + 50KM VR.

However, if the above existing registrants would like to register for another VR category, they would need to pay the VR fees accordingly.

  1. All participants must register online by providing their name, NRIC/Passport number/Hong Kong ID, gender, contact number, email address, and emergency contact details.
  2. Upon successful registration, each participant will receive a confirmation slip via email. The confirmation slip serves as the only valid evidence of registration. All participants are required to present their respective confirmation slip and/or NRIC/Passport/HK ID on Race Entry Pack Collection Day.
  3. The Event is open to participants who are 18 years of age and above. Age is calculated based on 12th March 2021.
  4. Participants must place their race bibs facing forward, prominently as high as possible on the front of your Running Tee. Do not place your race bib on the side of your hips, on your back or tucked away in your jacket. Runners found without their race bib numbers may be penalized or disqualified. Please ensure that the race bib number is visible. 
  5. Tampering with the race bib in any way (e.g. obscuring/removing sponsor’s identification) will result in your disqualification. The organizer shall immediately disqualify any participants, if this rule is not strictly observed.
  6. No pets or animals are allowed on the course.
  7. A runner is not allowed to be supported by any 3rd Party or participant to the race, other than at the Checkpoints/ Water Stations provided by the organizer along the course.
  8. If you withdraw from the race, you must report to the closest checkpoint. This will ensure that you will be safely removed from the race course and transported back to the race venue.
  9. If you need First Aid assistance on the course, you must contact the emergency number which will be provided to you during the Race Briefing on 12th March 2021, 5pm – 6pm.
  10. You must carry your own mandatory gear at all times during the race. Random gear checks will be conducted during the race. Runners without mandatory items will not be able to proceed, until they arrange for the missing items to be replaced. 
  11. You must obey the instructions given by checkpoint officials, or course “Trail Masters” and withdraw from the race if you miss any cut-off time at the checkpoint or on the course.
  12. Littering is prohibited. Kindly dispose all litter at the nearest checkpoint. 
  13. Do not leave any human faeces on the track. If you need to poo, use a toilet, a wag bag or get off track and “Leave No Trace”.
  14. You must obey any information signs and markers along the race course.
  15. Leave the gates as you find them. If closed, you may open the gate to pass through but please ensure that you close them back after you.
  16. The organizer reserves the right to discourage and/or penalize behaviour that is considered unsporting.
  1. Finisher medals will only be awarded to runners, upon completion of race within Cut Off Time.
  2. Registered participants who do not turn up in person on Race Day will be disqualified and will not be entitled to a finisher medal.
  • All participants will receive an event tee.
  • Participants are advised to refer to the size chart and select their sizes carefully to avoid any sizing issues. No exchange will be allowed after confirmation of registration.

Event T-shirt design:

 

  1. Finisher T-shirt will only be awarded to those who completed their race within Cut Off Time.
  2. Finisher T-shirt is awarded to those who complete in the 10KM, 25KM, 50KM and 50Miles categories, within Cut Off Time.
  3. Participants are advised to refer to the size chart and select their sizes carefully to avoid any sizing issues. No exchange will be allowed after confirmation of registration.

  1. Bib design is in progress. 

** Note 1: Participants must wear their bib numbers at the front.

** Note 3: Participants without Race Bibs on event day will not be allowed to start the race.

** Note 4: Whosoever found to be running with another person’s race bib other than his/ her own will be subjected to disqualification, and possibly banned from the event for a period of time.

** Note 5: The organizer is against the unlawful transfer of bib. Any transfer must be made known and be authorized by the organizer. This is to ensure that should there be any incidents, the right person is contacted and the right treatment to be administered in some cases. 

  • Mandatory gear check will be conducted prior to Race Pack Collection and randomly during the race.
  • Any runners who fail to adhere to the list below will incur penalty, where time will be added to their finishing time based on the severity of the omission, and in some cases will give the organizer the right to penalize the said runner. Any decision made is at the organizer’s discretion and it will be final.

** Basic First Aid Kit: For treating minor wounds and injuries and should contain some antiseptic swipes, gauze, and compression/ self-adhesive bandage.

The start and finish of the race is at Resort World Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia.

Support crews are not required for this race, as the respective checkpoints by the organizer are adequate for runners to successfully complete the race. 

If you have support crews, kindly ensure that they only support you at the respective checkpoints. Support crews are not allowed on the course, as they could be a hazard to other runners or to themselves. Anyone found to have breached this rule of law will be disqualified and evicted from the course.

Organizer is not responsible for the safety of support crews. The registered runner is responsible for the actions of his/ her support crews. Support crews must comply with all instructions from event officials. The runner may be penalized or disqualified for actions or breaches of the rules by their support crew.

Support crews must not eat the provided food at checkpoints. The food is for the competitors only.

If you can no longer participate in the race, please refer to ‘Refund Policy’ and ‘Entry Transfers’ below to check your available options.

REFUND POLICY

If you cannot find anyone to replace you and would prefer a refund of your entry fee, we are able to provide:

    • Full refund less RM50.00 administration fee if you advise us by email any time before the late entry fee date (30th November 2020 11:59PM).
    • 50% refund if you advise us by email between 01st December 2020 to 15th  January 2021 11:59PM.
    • No monetary refund if you advise us after 15th January 2021 11:59PM. 

For refunds prior to 15th January 2021, please email with Subject – Refund/ Name/ Category to info@mmtf.my.

In the event that the event course is, in the opinion of the event organizer, unsafe (for example by reason of heavy rain, high winds, bushfires, “acts of god”), organizer may, in their sole discretion, attempts to re-route the course, find an alternative shortened course or cancel the event. Organizer also reserves the right to cancel the event for any other reason which may include but is not limited to terrorism and war. If the event is cancelled, re-routed or shortened, no refund or transfer to another event will be made. Due to the scale of the event and travel & commitment involved by competitors, it is not practical to reschedule the event to any other weekend.

 

ENTRY TRANSFERS

TRANSFER OF ENTRY BEFORE 15TH JANUARY 2021 (EARLY ONLINE ENTRY TRANSFER)

You are able to transfer your entry online to an acquaintance up to Friday 15th January 2021 11:59pm. You need to find the person yourself to transfer your entry to. You need to sort out payment between yourself and the person taking your entry. The person who is taking your entry will also need to pay an RM50.00 transfer fee online to complete their new entry.

TRANSFER OF ENTRY BETWEEN 16TH JANUARY 2021 & 15TH FEBRUARY 2021 (LATE ONLINE ENTRY TRANSFER)

You are still able to transfer your entry online to an acquaintance after 15th January 2021 11.59pm. You need to find the person yourself to transfer your entry to. You need to sort out payment between yourself and the person taking your entry. The person who is taking your entry will also need to pay a RM100.00 transfer fee online to complete their new entry.

TRANSFER OF ENTRY AFTER 15TH FEBRUARY 2021 

ANY TRANSFER IN THIS CASE CAN BE TO ANY PERSON OF ANY DISTANCE OR CATEGORY.

The person taking your entry must bring the following to the ‘Transfers’ table during REPC (whenever REPC is open):

  • his/ her photo ID and a copy of your event email confirmation
  • a signed letter stating you are transferring the entry to him/ her
  • RM130.00 cash transfer fee
  • a completed late entry transfer form, which will be made available during REPC
  • a signed copy of the Indemnity & Release Form

If you would like to change the race category after registered, you are able to upgrade or downgrade your category before 15th February 2021 11:59pm.

For upgrade, you are required to pay the category price difference and a RM50.00 cash administration fee. Kindly email with Subject – CATEGORY UPGRADE/ Name/ Category to info@mmtf.my

For downgrade, you are required to pay a RM50.00 cash administration fee, however the difference in the category price will not be refunded. Kindly email with Subject – CATEGORY DOWNGRADE/ Name/ Category to info@mmtf.my

CATEGORY UPGRADE / DOWNGRADE AFTER 15TH FEBRUARY 2021

If you decide to upgrade or downgrade your category after 15th February 2021 11.59PM, you do not need to contact the organizer. Category change must be done during REPC and will incur cash administration fee (RM130.00 for upgrade and RM50.00 for downgrade).

No category change is permitted after 12th March 2021 8:00pm. The finisher t-shirt (if any) for the new category in this case will be based on the event t-shirt size.

You are required to go to the ‘Transfers’ table during REPC (whenever REPC is open):

  • your ID/ Passport and a copy of your event email confirmation
  • cash administration fee (RM130.00 for upgrade and RM50.00 for downgrade)
  • a completed Race Category Transfer Form
  • a signed copy of the Indemnity & Release Form

    Note: We encourage a paperless environment. Hence, a confirmation slip displayed through mobile/smartphone at the REPC counter will suffice.
  2. All participants are required to present their respective confirmation slip and/or NRIC/Passport/HK ID on Race Entry Pack Collection Day.
  3. Please note that race entry packs will not be issued on event day unless the organizer is informed in advance. This is to ensure that there is no disruption to the preparation of the race.
  4. Kindly note that the registered participant is required to collect his/ her own Race Entry Pack. You are not allowed to collect your Race Entry Pack on behalf of other runners. 
  5. For runners who are not able to collect their race pack during REPC as mentioned above kindly inform us in advance and please ensure that you collect your race pack 3 hours before the start of your race. All race pack collection counters will cease operation 90 mins before the start of the respective race.
  6. INDEMNITY AND RELEASE FORM. PLEASE PRINT AND BRING A COPY OF THE INDEMNITY AND RELEASE FORM AS ATTACHED. FAILURE OF WHICH, YOU WILL BE CHARGED RM2.00/COPY FOR PRINTING CHARGES.

** Note 1: All runners are covered by Personal Accident Insurance from PACIFIC INSURANCE.
